A Traveller’s Stew On A Cold Winter’s Eve

June in Australia is the coldest time of the year. With the Winter solstice just past, the cold months are here.

Meanwhile, in Faerun, the equivalent month is Kythorn – The Time Of Flowers, and is a summer time climate. Whatever time of the year it is for your adventuring party, you’ll always find a Traveller’s Stew being served at one of the many taverns and inns around the Sword Coast and beyond.

From Hero’s Feast – The Official D&D Cookbook:

Nothing is more welcoming to the battered, trail-weary adventurer than the unmistakable scent of beef and ale wafting from a bubbling, flame-licked cauldron. Find a seat near the inn’s blackened hearth and take aload off – warmth and safety are finally at hand. This earthy, slow-cooked conconction consisting of beef (or rothe), carrots, potatoes, and onions in a dark beer-infused broth is served in eating establishments everywhere, from the Green Dragon Inn and the Yawning Portal to Ellfate’s Eatery and the Inn of the Last Home. Be warned traveler, it won’t taste right without a wooden bowl and spoon.

On this particular day here in Sydney, Australia – a different part of the multi-verse – our family are enjoying this delicious stew and soaking in it’s hearty flavours and comforting aromas. Together with a fine red, it is highly recommended on these cold rainy Sundays.

Highly recommeneded and very easy on your gold coin purse.
